About

Nolan Natural Building is a new company started by James Nolan in 2025. The company specialises in the design and use of natural building materials to create and maintain healthy, low energy buildings.

James studied Architecture at the Centre for Alternative Technology in Wales before moving to York to work for the award winning York based, Native Architects. He initially worked as a construction project manager leading a small team that converted a 19th century granary building into what is now Native's current office. Once the conversion was complete James joined the architectural team working on a variety of projects covering domestic, commercial and leisure sectors. Subsequently James worked for Sanderson Brown, further developing his knowledge and skill set and qualifiying as a Chartered Architectural Technologist. 

James's practical building skills have been developed over many years, from labouring on construction sites as a student through to working as a professional builder specialising in the use of natural building materials.
